GE Medical Systems

GE Medical Systems in Israel consists of about 500 employees in various disciplines including functional imaging, cardiac - ultrasound, CT, PACS, respiratory and MR.
Dedicated engineering program has been defined within GE global premium MR engineering aimed to address the implementation of various MR-guided Therapeutic related technologies on the GE MR Scanners. Amongst its various tasks, the program has been implementing enablers MRgFUS technologies including various software features and ultra-fast pulse sequences required for advanced procedures.
In order to improve the collaboration with the MRgFUS developer (InSightec, based in Haifa), the global FUS program management is currently based at the GE facilities in Haifa. In addition to the FUS program management there is also an MR engineering team based in Haifa which is part of the global MR Interventional. Most of the activities of this team are related to special coils development for interventional and radio therapy planning.

Key staff:

Dr Yuval Zur, Senior physicist at GE in Haifa, Dr Zur has more than 26 years of experience in MR research and development, first with Elscint and then with GE.
Dr. Zur has graduated the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel where he received his
PhD in solid state NMR. He holds 20 patents filed in the United States and Israel in the field of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, and published 23 articles in Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, Journal of Magnetic Resonance, Medical Physics and Journal of Chemical
Physics. Dr. Zur is a referee for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and the Journal of
Magnetic Resonance.

Giora Sat, Program Manager at GE in Haifa, has more than 19 years of experience in MR research and development, first with Elscint and then with GE. Currently Giora is the global MRgFUS engineering program manager in GE and is the focal point of engineering and technology development collaboration between GE and InSightec.
